Belotero Soft: Why 6-Month Intervals Fall Short
Belotero Soft: Why 6-Month Intervals Fall Short
Belotero Soft: Why 6-Month Intervals Fall Short
No set Belotero Soft interval; CPM microparticle HA means 'when needed.' Here's the 6–9 month logic.

Belotero Soft cycle,
why getting it every 6 months is a loss
I’ll start with the conclusion.
Belotero Soft does not have a 'fixed cycle.'
I’ll explain why in this article.

Belotero Soft,
what makes it different from other HA fillers
Belotero Soft is made with CPM technology
and is a microparticle hyaluronic acid filler.
It’s used in superficial layers like fine lines and dark circle lines,
and it’s one of the softest among HA fillers.
Unlike regular HA fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane,
Belotero has a
'heterogeneous structure' in which particle size and crosslink density are not uniform.
That’s why it blends naturally into the skin,
and the biggest difference is that it spreads subtly without looking obvious.

Why is it that with the same Belotero, some people go 6 months,
while others last a year?
"Belotero Soft doesn’t have a fixed cycle.
Because it’s microparticle HA, 'when needed' is the answer
— When fine lines and dark circle lines
become visible again, that’s when it should be done.
Usually once every 6 to 9 months is enough."
— Director Wi Yeongjin (Beautystone Clinic)
This is a question I get about 8 or 9 times a week in the clinic.
"Doctor, Belotero
how many months apart should I get it?"
But the reason it’s a bit hard to answer this with an exact number
is that,
unlike other fillers, Belotero Soft doesn’t have a set
'cycle in months.'
The key here is CPM technology.
CPM (Cohesive Polydensified Matrix) is
a method that mixes HA with different crosslink densities into one product.
Thanks to this structure, the particles adhere to the skin tissue
almost like one body.
Unlike a regular monodensity filler, it doesn’t stay behind as a 'lump'
and then break down all at once,
but is gradually absorbed in parts within the tissue.
So the point when the effect suddenly drops
is not clear.
Usually around 6 to 9 months, you reach the point where you think, "Oh, the dark circle line
is showing again,"
but for some people, this can vary by as much as 3 months.
You might be a little surprised to hear this.
Recently, a 51-year-old client came in.
At another clinic, they were told that "Belotero must
be done every 4 months"
and had it topped up three times over a year,
but when she came to us, the area below the under-eye line
had become slightly thicker.
It was a case where it was injected again before the filler had fully absorbed,
so it had built up over time.
On the other hand, a 35-year-old client
came back 11 months after the first treatment,
and said, "I came because the line started to show again."
That timing was exactly right.
The filler had also been almost fully absorbed.
Director Wi Yeongjin’s key summary
Belotero Soft is not a filler you choose based on the calendar.
It’s a filler you choose based on the mirror.
When fine lines and dark circle lines start to show again,
that’s your own cycle.
The factors that determine the cycle differ by
Belotero lineup
Line | Main indications | Recommended treatment interval |
Soft | Fine lines, dark circle lines | 6 to 9 months (when the line reappears) |
Balance | Nasolabial folds, mouth lines | 9 to 12 months |
Intense | Deep wrinkles, lips | 10 to 14 months |
Volume | Cheek and jawline contours | 12 to 18 months |
What many people misunderstand is that these numbers are
not a 'cycle you have to follow,' but
a guide that says, 'Please check again around this time.'
If you shorten the interval too much, it can build up like in the case above,
and if you lengthen it too much, there’s no major problem.
But you will end up living without the effect for a while.
If you’ve read this far,
this is probably what you’re wondering
Q1. If there’s no fixed cycle,
when on earth should I come back?
Honestly,
this is the part that really confuses people.
The most accurate signal is
the moment you notice it yourself in front of the mirror.
When the dark circle line starts to stand out again,
or when fine lines start to resist being covered by makeup.
Usually that point comes around 6 to 9 months,
but many people stay satisfied for almost a year.
Q2. It’s been a month since my first treatment, and
the line is showing again. Do I need a touch-up?
This is actually a question that comes up very often.
But one month is not the time for a touch-up.
Right after the procedure, some of the volume disappears,
and there is a period around 3 to 4 weeks when it can look as if it has
'deflated.'
At this point, it hasn’t been absorbed; it’s just settling in.
If you really don’t like it, I recommend a touch-up after 4 to 6 weeks,
and otherwise, it’s best to reassess after 6 months.
Q3. Are there side effects if I get it too often?
This is something I explain the same way every time
I see a patient,
HA fillers themselves are absorbable ingredients, so
accumulation itself is safe.
But that doesn’t mean it’s safe no matter what.
Like the 51-year-old client I mentioned earlier,
if you keep adding more before it’s absorbed, the volume can build up and
the thinner skin areas can look thicker, or the line can become heavy.
This is especially true in places with thin skin, like under the eyes.
That said, if you keep the treatment intervals properly,
Belotero Soft is one of the safest lines.
If you take away just one thing today — Belotero Soft is
a filler that the mirror, not the calendar, tells you about.
In the next article, I’ll explain whether, one month after the first Belotero Soft treatment,
when the line starts to show again,
you should get a touch-up or wait.
I’ll show with cases why what appears at 4 weeks and 8 weeks can be different, even in the same line.
