Doctor, Why Didn't Under-Eye Rejuran Work?

"Doctor, I got Rejuran under my eyes

but why is it still the same?"

— Question I received yesterday

Let me start with the conclusion.

For under-eye hollowness, Juvellook is a better fit than

Rejuran.

I'll explain why in this post.

Doctor, Why Didn't Under-Eye Rejuran Work?

They may look similar, but

the key point is different.

Juvellook is a collagen booster made by dissolving a biodegradable

thread component called PDLLA (polydlactide),

which helps create new collagen

within the skin.

Unlike Rejuran, Juvellook

has an effect of filling in volume itself.

Rejuran (PN, salmon DNA)

is closer to a regenerative injection that refines skin texture and elasticity,

while Juvellook builds new collagen

and gradually fills sunken areas.

the key point is different.

Why do some people see less effect?

"Why Rejuran shouldn't be used for under-eye hollowness,

and the area-specific criteria for when Juvellook should be used.

"

— Dr. Wi Young-jin (Beautystone Clinic, Hongdae)

A patient in their late 30s who came last month

had received Rejuran Eye four times for under-eye hollowness, but

came saying the hollow was still the same.

The essence of under-eye hollowness is not

a skin problem, but a loss of volume.

Even if the skin texture improves, the shadow won't disappear.

But there is something important here.

Juvellook should not be injected just beneath the under-eye skin, but into a deeper layer,

usually near the SOOF at a depth of 3~5mm or

just above the periosteum.

If placed too superficially, nodules (lumps) can form.

Depth and dosage are key.

Dr. Wi Young-jin's key summary

Under-eye hollowness is not that the skin has become thinner,

it's that the volume underneath has been lost.

Rejuran targets the skin, while Juvellook targets volume.

If hollowness is your main concern, Juvellook is right,

and if fine wrinkles and pigmentation are the main concern, Rejuran is right.

Dr. Wi Young-jin's key summary

This is how I divide it in my clinic

Under-eye condition

Recommended procedure

Number of sessions & interval

Shadowed hollowness, volume loss

Juvellook (deep layer)

2~3 sessions / 4-week intervals

Fine wrinkles, dark circles (pigmented)

Rejuran Eye

3~4 sessions / 2~3-week intervals

Combined hollowness + thin skin

Combination of Juvellook + Rejuran

Alternate, 2~3 sessions each

Deep tear troughs · sunken aegyo-sal

Consider filler first

Reassess after 1 session

However, Juvellook's effect builds gradually, so

you'll feel it only 3~4 weeks after the first treatment.

Fillers provide greater immediate satisfaction, but

if you want naturalness and a longer duration,

Juvellook is a good choice.

If you've read this far,

you may be wondering this.

Q1. Can the under-eye area look whitish

after getting Juvellook?

Yes, it can. If injected superficially or in too much volume,

it can appear whitish, similar to the Tyndall effect.

So under the eyes, especially, the rule is to inject small amounts,

and place it deeply.

Q2. How many sessions does it usually take, and how much does it cost?

Many people finish after about 2~3 sessions for the under-eye area.

The maintenance period is usually about 10~12 months.

Q3. How long do bruising or swelling last?

Because the under-eye skin is thin, quite a few people bruise.

It usually fades in 5~7 days, and

swelling subsides within 2~3 days.

I hope today's post was helpful.

This was Wi Young-jin.

Frequently asked questions

Q. Can the area under the eyes appear whitish after getting Juvelook?

A. Yes, there is. If it is injected superficially or in a large amount, it can appear whitish, similar to the Tyndall effect.

Q. How many times is it usually taken, and how much?

A. Many people finish the under-eye area in about 2–3 passes.

Q. How long do bruises or swelling last?

A. Many people have thin skin under the eyes and bruise easily. It usually fades within 5–7 days, and swelling goes down within 2–3 days.

Q. If I get Juvelook under my eyes, how quickly can I see the results?

A. Since Juvelook's effects appear gradually, it usually takes about 3 to 4 weeks after the first treatment to feel a noticeable difference. While dermal fillers provide greater immediate satisfaction, Juvelook is an excellent choice if you prefer a natural-looking, long-lasting result, as it works by newly building and filling in collagen.
