1. Why does the jaw become square-shaped?
It's caused by the masseter muscle — the muscle responsible for chewing.
This muscle grows gradually each year from the repeated motion of chewing every day.
It's the same reason older people tend to have thicker calves.
Walking every day makes the calf muscles bigger — same principle.
(*Don't forget to work your back muscles too.)
The jaw works the same way.
The larger the masseter muscle sitting on top of the jawbone,
the more square and wide the face appears.

2. How Botox slims the face
Botox blocks acetylcholine, the neurotransmitter that signals muscles to contract.
You've probably worn a cast before, right?
After about 2 weeks, when it comes off, there's a noticeable difference between the two sides.
That's muscle atrophy — the muscle shrinks from lack of use.
Muscles that aren't used naturally shrink over time.
It's the same as losing muscle mass when you stop working out.
When the masseter shrinks → the volume above it decreases → the face looks slimmer.

3. When results appear
- Wrinkle Botox: Results within 1 week
- Jawline Botox: Results after at least 2–4 weeks
Wrinkles smooth out as soon as the muscle stops moving.
But for the jawline, the muscle itself needs to physically atrophy.
That takes time.

How long do results last?
Typically 3–6 months.
Think of it like getting a regular trim for your hair.
Can I build a tolerance over time?
Antibodies may develop against the complex proteins in Botox. If that happens, simply take a 1–2 year break.
If you're worried about tolerance, consider Xeomin or Coretox instead!
Is it safe for people in their 20s–30s?
Absolutely.
Botox is even used for young patients who grind their teeth at night.

5. Injection placement matters a lot
Even within the masseter, results and side effects vary depending on exactly where the injection is placed.
Injecting too close to the front can spread to the Risorius muscle — which may cause an uneven smile.
A precise injection site, guided by anatomical knowledge, is essential.

6. Concerned about both fat and muscle?
If your jaw muscles are large, jawline Botox is the right choice.
Some people have a fuller face due to fat rather than muscle. In that case, combining Botox with Double Slim injections (DCA fat-dissolving injections) delivers much better results.
