Can Juvelook Volume Fill Sunken Temples?

Juvelook Volume can be used to soften sunken temples, but it works gradually and over more than one session, so it won't give you a finished result before a one-week trip ends. If you want the temple shape to change the same day, a hyaluronic acid (HA) filler is the more direct tool; if you can wait and come back, Juvelook Volume is a reasonable plan.

Can Juvelook Volume fill sunken temples, or should I get filler?

It can be used for temple hollows, but it isn't a same-day filler, and that one difference decides which option makes sense for you.

Juvelook Volume is a hybrid injectable, not a classic filler. An expert consensus paper identifies it, also sold as Lenisna, as PDLLA-HA 200 and describes this product type as collagen-stimulating poly-D,L-lactic acid (PDLLA) microspheres with non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid as a carrier.

In plain terms, the hyaluronic acid is the vehicle and the PDLLA particles are the working part. They're there to prompt your own tissue to build up slowly, which is why the change is gradual rather than instant.

So the choice comes down to two questions: when do you need to see a difference, and can you come back?

• You want the hollow softened before your flight home: an HA filler changes the shape on the day it's placed, so it's the more direct option for a single short trip.

• You'd rather not have a filler and you can wait: Juvelook Volume builds gradually across sessions, so it suits someone who visits Seoul again, or who's fine judging the result months later.

My read for a first-time visitor on a one-week trip: if the temples are the main thing bothering you and you don't expect to be back for a while, start the conversation with filler. How long until my temples actually look different?

Expect a slow change measured in months, not a before-and-after on the same afternoon.

A Seoul case series that used Juvelook Volume on a different area, the lateral sunken cheek, describes its approach as one that "leverages gradual biostimulation rather than immediate bolus volume."

In that same series, adults underwent 3 treatment sessions at 3-week intervals, and outcomes were assessed at 3 months after the final session.

For the temple itself, the trial evidence comes from a different collagen stimulator. In a randomized trial of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) for temple hollowing, the treatment group received 2 to 3 sessions of temple injections with 12-month follow-up.

At month 6 in that trial, 96.5% of participants in the treatment group achieved at least a 1-grade improvement on a temple hollowing scale, in contrast to 0% in the untreated control group.

Those numbers belong to PLLA, not Juvelook Volume, so don't read them as a promise for this product. What they do show is the general shape of the timeline for collagen-stimulating injectables: several sessions spaced weeks apart, then a result you judge months later. Individual results vary.

For you, that means the honest goal of one Seoul visit is the first session plus a plan for the rest, not a finished temple.

Why does the injection layer matter so much in the temple?

Because the temple sits over a chewing muscle, the depth the product goes to can change how the area feels when you eat, not just how it looks.

A systematic review of temple fillers notes that deeper injection, placed on the bone's surface lining (supraperiosteal) or within the fascia layers, may be more commonly associated with chewing pain or discomfort.

Most of the 881 patients in that review were treated with hyaluronic acid (783 of them), so it tells us about temple injections in general rather than about Juvelook Volume specifically.

Deeper isn't automatically better, and shallower isn't automatically safer. Depth is a trade-off between how the result sits, how it feels when you chew, and how close the product travels to vessels. That trade-off should be explained for your temple, with your hollow in front of the doctor, not picked from a menu.

This is also where a gradual product and a same-day filler stop being interchangeable. With filler, the doctor shapes the hollow in the chair. With Juvelook Volume, the layer is chosen once per session and the shape shows up later, so the layer decision carries more weight than the amount.

Side effects and risks: what's common and what's an emergency

Most reactions after temple injections are short-lived: soreness, bruising and swelling lead the list.

In the temple filler review, pain/tenderness/pressure (29.6%), ecchymosis, or bruising (17.3%), and edema, or swelling (15.5%) were the most common posttreatment adverse events.

In the Juvelook Volume cheek series, transient ecchymosis occurred in 3 patients (12.5%) and resolved within 10 days.

That cheek series also reported no nodules, infections, granulomas, or vascular events, but it was a small group of twenty-four patients, so it can't rule those out.

The temple review adds that vascular events and other serious adverse events were rare.

Rare isn't never, and the temple is one of the places it has happened with a collagen stimulator. A review of vision loss with biostimulator injectables reports two confirmed cases of visual loss with PLLA: one from injection to the periorbital/nasal region, and another from injection to the temple.

The same review lists one reported case of visual loss with PDLLA-HA, the product family Juvelook Volume belongs to.

A panel of specialists has also written a dedicated consensus on safe practice with PDLLA-HA 200 (Juvelook Volume/Lenisna) and on managing vision problems if they occur.

Tell staff right away, or seek emergency medical care if you've already left, if you notice any of these after a temple injection:

• Vision: blurring, a dark patch, or loss of vision in either eye.

• Skin color: skin that turns pale, blotchy or dusky around the injection area.

• Pain: pain that keeps getting worse instead of settling.

• Infection signs: fever or redness that spreads.

Ordinary bruising and tenderness usually settle on their own. If they worsen or spread, contact your provider instead of waiting it out.

Within your travel schedule: flights, one visit, and after you fly home

Unless you were sedated that day, a flight home isn't a reason to push a Juvelook Volume session back. Sedation day is the exception.

Sightseeing and photos are a separate question. How visible bruising or swelling will be on a given day differs from person to person, and I don't have a temple-specific photo rule to put in writing, so if your trip has a big photo day, raise it at the consult before the date is set.
