You've seen Juvelook on Korean clinic menus, then "Juvelook Volume" right next to it, and you're weighing two very different worries: paying for something that turns lumpy, or paying for something that shows nothing before your flight home. In this article, we'll cover what's actually in the vial, how it differs from regular Juvelook, the real lump risk, session timing, and how it all fits around a trip.

What Is Juvelook Volume Made Of?

It's made of two ingredients. One is microscopic beads of PDLLA (poly-D,L-lactic acid), a material the body breaks down slowly. The other is non-crosslinked hyaluronic acid, the free-flowing form of HA rather than the linked gel most HA fillers are built from.

A published case report lists each vial of Juvelook Volume as containing 170 mg of PDLLA and 30 mg of noncrosslinked hyaluronic acid.

The beads do the slow work. Your body reacts to them by laying down collagen of its own, so the change arrives gradually instead of on the day.

A 2026 paper on PDLLA-HA products describes this as a controlled foreign body reaction rather than simple volume replacement, which is what sets them apart from conventional fillers.

The HA mostly acts as the carrier.

A lab comparison of poly-lactic acid fillers notes that the other poly-lactic acid fillers it lists use carboxymethylcellulose as the carrier, while Juvelook uses non-crosslinked HA.

Investigators in a split-face trial write that combining PDLLA with non-crosslinked HA offers immediate hydration and plumpness.

So, is it a filler? Partly. The HA gives a little fullness at the start, and the longer-term change is meant to come from your own collagen. You may also run into the name Lenisna: the case report above lists the product as Juvelook Volume (Lenisna).

Juvelook, Juvelook Volume, or Filler: Which Fits?

Regular Juvelook and Juvelook Volume share the same basic recipe but are built for different depths. Juvelook is aimed at the skin itself; Juvelook Volume is aimed at the softer tissue underneath.

According to the same 2026 paper, both products contain PDLLA and HA in the same 85:15 ratio, but Juvelook has smaller beads of approximately 20 to 40 μm for superficial dermal use, while Juvelook Volume has larger beads of approximately 40 to 60 μm, a higher total PDLLA content, and is designed for deeper soft tissue.

When someone points at a single spot, I don't start with a product. I look at the face in layers: the skin surface, the soft volume beneath it, and the deeper support that holds everything up. Each option answers a different layer.

• Texture, fine lines, crepey skin: regular Juvelook is the closer match, since it's meant for the skin layer.

Here's how I'd choose for a traveler. If you'll only be in Seoul once and want the difference to show before you leave, I'd lean toward filler. If you can come back, or you'd rather people notice that you look rested than that something changed, Juvelook Volume is the better match.

Will It Look Lumpy? Side Effects and Risks

It can turn lumpy, though that's less likely when the product is spread thin and placed at the right depth. No collagen booster is free of that risk.

Authors of the split-face trial explain that PDLLA beads are smooth and sponge-like and break down faster than solid PLLA particles, so they're theoretically less likely to cause nodules or granulomas but not free from the complication.

The same paper describes nodules from poly-lactic acid injectables in general as product clumping with a usual onset 1 to 2 months after injection, and granulomas, an exaggerated inflammatory reaction, as appearing between 6 and 24 months after injection.

For a traveler, that timing matters. A lump wouldn't show up while you're still in Seoul. It's one reason I'd rather keep a first session conservative than chase a bigger change in a single visit.

In that trial, one participant had moderate swelling and tenderness after the second injection, which the authors attributed to excess HA collecting in one spot.

The rarer, more serious risk with any facial injection is product entering a blood vessel.

Reviews of hyaluronic acid filler side effects report that more serious complications from vascular occlusion have resulted in blindness and skin necrosis.

Seek medical care right away if you notice any of these after treatment:

• Skin near the injection turning pale, blotchy, or dusky

• Pain that's getting worse instead of settling

• Any change in your vision

• A lump that becomes red, warm, or increasingly painful

How Many Sessions, and How Long Does It Last?

The published trial used three sessions spaced 4 weeks apart. As for how long results last, there isn't a long-term number specific to Juvelook Volume that I can point you to yet.

In that multi-center, evaluator-blinded study, 33 subjects received Juvelook Volume on one smile line (nasolabial fold) and Sculptra, a PLLA product, on the other, with three injections in total at 4-week intervals.

The authors concluded that the PDLLA-based product demonstrated non-inferiority to PLLA for smile-line correction.

Their final check came 3 months after the last injection, and they wrote that further studies are needed to assess long-term safety.

If you see a specific month count quoted for Juvelook Volume, it's fair to ask which study it comes from.

The detail people rarely hear about is how the product is split across sessions.

For smile lines in that study, the average was 4 mL per side in total: 2 mL per side in the first session, then an average of 1 mL per side in each of the following two.

That front-loaded pattern, with smaller top-ups after, matters more to me than the session count itself. So does depth.

In the same trial, the product went into the deep fat and supraperiosteal layer (just above the bone) through a blunt-tip microcannula.

How many sessions you need comes down to how deep the hollow is and how much change you're after. That's a decision I'd make after seeing your face, not before.

Fitting Juvelook Volume Into Your Seoul Trip

Unless you had sedation on the day of treatment, there's no reason to push back your flight because of it. Sightseeing and photos are a separate question. How much swelling shows depends on the area and the amount used, so ask what to expect for your plan before booking a photo-heavy day.

One visit still means something. Some treatments, like filler, change your shape the same day. Juvelook Volume works the other way: rather than a big jump, it moves you gradually back toward how you used to look.

Because the trial schedule had sessions 4 weeks apart, three sessions don't fit inside a one-week stay. If you visit Seoul a few times a year, sessions can be spread across trips, and how a longer gap changes the plan is something we'd set together at consultation.

So for your trip: if you're in Seoul for under four weeks and want a visible change before your flight, filler is the better fit. If you can come back a month or more later, or you'd simply rather look rested than different, Juvelook Volume fits the way you travel.
