To achieve a natural result without nodules when getting filler treatment for neck wrinkles

Neck wrinkle filler,
don't believe the claim that
you can use just any product
for it

Q. Aren't all fillers pretty similar?
If it's a product widely used everywhere,
isn't it okay for neck wrinkles too?
A. Neck wrinkles involve very thin skin and a lot of movement,
so if a regular filler is used,
lumpy nodules can form.
There is a separate dedicated product with finer particles.
Q. If you get neck wrinkle filler once, does it last a long time?
A. The neck moves a lot, so the maintenance period is
shorter than for areas like nasolabial folds.
It is usually around 6 months.
📌 Key point of this article
Horizontal neck wrinkles should be filled with a dedicated filler
with very soft particles (Belotero Soft)
in a thin layer to prevent lumpy nodules.

Why there is
a separate filler for the neck
— particle size is everything
To be honest, among the people who come in for filler consultations,
there are so many who ask,
"Isn't it just a matter of putting in filler?"
They're not entirely wrong.
It's the same ingredient (hyaluronic acid), after all.
But there's one important thing here.
Depending on particle size, fillers have different
viscosities (the degree of stickiness).
The larger the particles, the stronger the volume effect and the longer the duration,
but if used close to the skin surface,
they can clump or protrude.
On the other hand, very fine-particle products
have the characteristic of spreading thinly and evenly through the skin,
keeping the surface smooth.
Neck wrinkles are especially tricky.
The skin is thin, and it's an area that moves
hundreds of times a day.
When talking, turning your head, swallowing food...
the filler is constantly exposed to those movements.
If a coarse filler is injected in this situation,
over time it can shift to one side or
be felt through the skin as
lumpy nodules.
A lot of people misunderstand this part,
but it's often not a problem with the procedure technique;
it's a problem with the choice of material itself.
That's why, for neck wrinkles,
a dedicated soft filler like
Belotero Soft,
which has very small particles and blends well with the skin texture, is needed.
The tricky part is that
you can't tell right away from the outside which filler was used.
Right after the procedure,
both products may look similar.
The difference appears after 2 to 4 weeks.
👨⚕️ Director Wi Youngjin's key summary
For neck wrinkle filler,
'what you put in' determines the result.
For the neck, where the skin is thin and movement is frequent,
a dedicated filler with very soft particles
(Belotero Soft) must be placed very shallowly and evenly
to achieve a natural result
without lumpy nodules.
Even with the same hyaluronic acid, if the product choice is different,
the results can change completely.

Which neck wrinkles are suitable for filler,
and in which cases
is another option needed?
It depends on the case, but
this is how I usually look at it.
Neck wrinkles can be broadly divided into two types.
The first is a deep horizontal line.
In this case, a soft filler is directly helpful.
It is placed thinly into the skin layer right below the wrinkle line.
That's the method.
The second is when the skin overall is sagging and has lost elasticity.
In this case, the cause is loss of elasticity rather than the wrinkle itself,
so filler alone has its limits.
In this case, lifting procedures or
Botox should be combined.
But that's not always a good thing.
Neck wrinkle filler has a short maintenance period.
Nasolabial fold or cheek fillers often
last 12 to 18 months,
but the neck moves a lot, so
around 6 months is the realistic expectation.
However, if you approach it properly from the start with a dedicated product,
you can maintain it periodically without worrying about nodular side effects,
so in fact that is safer and more satisfying.
One thing I must mention is that,
because the treatment area is close to blood vessels,
you should receive neck wrinkle filler from an experienced medical professional.
How shallowly and how little is injected
determines both the result and the safety of the procedure.
Frequently asked questions
Q1. After getting neck wrinkle filler,
how long do bruising and swelling last?
A. Because the skin on the neck is thin,
there may be slight swelling or bruising right after the procedure.
In most cases, it goes down within 3 to 5 days,
and even in severe cases, after about a week,
it doesn't interfere with daily activities.
For 2 to 3 days after the procedure, intense exercise or
saunas should be avoided, and
massaging or pressing the neck area strongly
should also be avoided.
For preventing nodules,
initial stabilization is more important than you might think.
Q2. Can neck wrinkle filler and Botox be done together?
A. Yes, they can be done together,
and in fact we often perform them in combination.
In the neck, the platysma muscle
plays a role in pulling in the vertical direction,
and if this muscle is slightly relaxed with Botox,
the filler lasts better and
the overall neck line is also improved.
Because both procedures can be done on the same day,
you can reduce the number of visits.
That's all from Wi Youngjin.
