Pick by layer: Shurink for a sagging jawline, Onda for full, padded cheeks, and Titanium lifting for texture and mild loss of firmness. All three use heat to prompt new collagen, but each one concentrates that heat at a different depth.

That's also why the number of sessions and the wait for visible change differ from one device to the next. In this article, we'll cover how to tell which concern is yours, where each device puts its heat, how many sessions studies used, the current prices, what's normal afterward and how treatment fits a trip to Seoul.

Sagging, Full Cheeks or Texture: Which Concern Is Yours?

Look in the mirror with a relaxed face, not smiling. If the edge of your jawline looks blurred and your cheeks seem to have slid downward, you're looking at sagging. If you can pinch a thick pad of cheek and your lower face looks wide from the front, the main issue is fat.

Then there's the third group. Sagging is minor, but makeup sits unevenly, fine lines show up and your skin feels thinner than it used to. That points to texture and mild laxity in the skin itself.

Plenty of faces have two of these at once, so the mirror alone rarely settles it. At your visit, I look at the balance of the whole face and the difference between the left and right sides first. Then I work out which layer loosened first, and I also compare how your jawline changes when you sit up and when you lie back.

Where Do Shurink, Onda and Titanium Put Their Heat?

Each device uses a different kind of energy, and the heat collects at a different depth. Shurink (Ultraformer MPT) focuses ultrasound into tiny points that reach from the deep dermis down to the SMAS*. That depth is why it's the one I think of first for a sagging jawline.

*SMAS: a thin sheet of tissue that wraps the facial muscles and holds up the skin above them.

Start with the column that matches the change you notice first. Onda's deeper handpiece warms the fat under the skin over a wide area, while a shallower one is used for tightening the skin. Titanium spreads its heat through the dermis without wounding the surface, which suits skin that's lost some bounce but hasn't dropped much.

How Many Sessions Do Titanium, Shurink and Onda Take?

It depends on the device, and none of them is meant to change everything in one visit. New collagen takes months to form, so the change builds slowly.

In 20 Korean patients given 1 session with Ultherapy, a different focused ultrasound device that works the same way, the jawline improved most, followed by the cheeks and then the area around the mouth. That was judged on photos taken at 3 and 6 months. Ten women with a sagging double chin had 2 sessions of the same 2.45 GHz microwave technology Onda uses, 30 days apart, and their laxity score dropped from 3.6 to 2.3 twelve weeks later.

Among 28 women who had 5 sessions of a triple-wavelength laser 2 weeks apart, skin samples showed more collagen and elastic fibers through the dermis. None of these studies had a comparison group, and all were small, so treat them as a reference point rather than a promise. How much you see depends on your skin.

When you compare quotes, line up the same energy level and the same area. A 10KJ jawline session and a 60KJ full face session aren't the same treatment, even on the same device.

Shurink, Onda and Titanium Side Effects: What Is Normal?

Brief redness and swelling after treatment are normal and usually pass on their own. In the ultrasound study above, 6 of the 20 patients had redness and swelling and 2 had bruising, and all of it was mild and temporary.

Don't wait it out if you notice any of these. Contact your provider right away:

• Blisters or oozing on the treated skin

• Skin that breaks down into raw or open sores

• A dent appearing at the treated spot days later

• One corner of your mouth moving oddly when you smile or talk

Serious reactions like these are rare after focused ultrasound, but when they happen, early wound care matters.

If your sagging is already advanced, none of the three may lift as much as you'd hope. Nonsurgical tightening can't give you the results of a facelift, and it tends to work best when sagging is still mild*.

It's better to hold off on treatment in these cases:

• You're pregnant

• You have a skin infection where you plan to be treated

• You're taking certain medications (bring a list of everything you take to your visit)

Fitting Shurink, Onda or Titanium Into a Trip to Seoul

Unless you had sedation that day, there's no need to postpone your flight because of Shurink, Onda or Titanium. Plan your sightseeing around the redness and swelling described above.

It also helps to know what one visit can do. Some treatments, such as filler, change your shape the same day. Most others, these three included, work gradually and bring your face closer to how it used to look rather than changing it all at once. One visit doesn't replace a planned course, and Titanium and Onda were studied over several sessions.

Once you're home, you can send the clinic photos if you have questions about how your skin is settling. If something changes sharply, such as blisters, open sores or a mouth that suddenly moves unevenly, see a local doctor first rather than waiting for a reply.

The Bottom Line: Ask Which Layer Loosened First

Before you book, ask one question: which layer of my face loosened first? The answer tells you whether one device is enough or whether sagging and fat call for two devices, done together or split up. It also makes quotes from different clinics easier to compare.
