Want Botox and Filler in one visit? Here's the recommended order and recovery timeline covered.
One of the things we often hear in the consultation room is, "I want to do everything all at once this time." For example, wanting to finish masseter Botox and lip filler in one visit, or adding nasolabial fold filler while getting glabella Botox.
In short, having them done on the same day is often not a major problem. However, there is a recommended treatment order, and depending on the area, some combinations are better not done together on the same day. Most importantly, if everything is done at once, it becomes difficult to tell where swelling and bruising came from.
Why Same-Day Treatment Is Sometimes Okay, and Sometimes Not
Botox and filler have different mechanisms. Botox blocks muscle signals to reduce the movements that create expressions, while filler restores volume to lift hollow areas or define contours. Even when used in the same area, they are placed in different layers.
The issue usually arises not from the procedures themselves, but when too much stimulation is applied to one area at once. If Botox, filler, and a collagen booster are all injected into the same spot together, swelling lasts longer, and it becomes difficult to determine what caused a side effect. That is why same-day treatment is usually more natural when the areas are separate and the number of procedures is around two.

The Usual Order Is Botox First, Then Filler
If done on the same day, the usual order is Botox → filler. Botox leaves only tiny injection marks and little to no swelling, so it is easy to check the contour in the mirror after treatment. Filler creates some volume immediately after the procedure, so it feels natural to refine the line with Botox first and then add volume with filler on top.
Conversely, if filler is placed first and then Botox is injected, the volume created by the filler can sometimes be slightly pushed by the Botox injection motion. It is uncommon, but in precise areas such as the nasal tip, it can have an effect, so rather than proceeding without asking about the order, it is better to confirm which sequence will be used once.

Combinations That Are Better Not Done on the Same Day
When two procedures overlap in the same area, many people prefer not to do them on the same day. For example, glabella Botox and glabella filler are nearly in the same spot, so if done together, swelling and bruising can concentrate on one area, making it hard to judge the result. It is more precise to first soften expression lines with Botox and then, 1–2 weeks later, fill only the deeper groove with filler.
Another example is adding a new procedure on a day with a large treatment load. If you combine lip filler with a high-unit procedure such as masseter or trapezius Botox on the same day, treatment time becomes longer and anesthesia, tenderness, and bruising can accumulate all at once. Recovery takes longer, and it can also become awkward to schedule the next touch-up in the same area.

Recovery Timeline — Why Some People Prefer Separate Visits
Although combining treatments on the same day is efficient, quite a few people prefer to have them separately. The biggest reason is that it becomes difficult to track where the swelling and bruising came from. If you receive Botox alone, you can usually go to work the next day as usual, but when filler is added on the same day, swelling may remain for about 2–5 days depending on the area.
Also, many people decide whether to add more based on results observed over 1–2 week intervals. Botox settles in by weeks 2–4, and filler stabilizes in about 1–2 weeks. If the treatments are done separately, you can see how the Botox has settled and then decide where and how much filler to add, which can lead to a more natural result.

Things Worth Checking Together During Consultation
Whether to combine them on the same day or have them separately ultimately depends on the area combination and the number of procedures. During consultation, it becomes easier to decide if you check together: "How long will recovery take if these two areas are done on the same day?" · "In what order will the treatments be performed?" · "Will any treatments overlap in the same area?" This article is general information, and the medical team needs to make a direct judgment based on your specific area combination and whether you are taking medication.
