Hyperhidrosis Botox: Why Prices Vary by 5x or More
Why hyperhidrosis Botox costs 5x more: the 100-unit structure and 4–6 month value explained.

Hyperhidrosis Botox Price,
and Why It Can Differ by More Than 5x
Last Friday afternoon,
a 25-year-old office worker came into the clinic
tightly buttoned up in a cardigan over a short-sleeved shirt.
arrived at the consultation room.
"Doctor, why is hyperhidrosis Botox so expensive?
I saw glabella Botox for 50,000 won."
Then they took out three estimate sheets,
and for the same underarm hyperhidrosis treatment,
the prices ranged from 300,000 won to 800,000 won.
They said they weren’t sure which one was the normal price.

Why hyperhidrosis Botox can’t be the same price
as regular Botox
Hyperhidrosis Botox is a procedure that temporarily blocks the sympathetic nerves
distributed in the sweat glands,
reducing sweat secretion.
Unlike glabella Botox or square jaw Botox, which target
a single muscle,
hyperhidrosis requires evenly distributed spot injections
across the entire underarm area.
That is why the dosage itself is different.
The glabella usually takes 15~25 units,
and the square jaw takes 25~50 units per side,
but underarm hyperhidrosis uses 50 units per side,
or about 100 units total for both sides,
in a single session.

The real variables that change the price
are unit count and product type
Dr. Wi Young-jin’s
Key Insight
"Underarm hyperhidrosis Botox uses
about 100 units at a time,
so the price range is naturally high.
The effect lasts 4–6 months, so one treatment just before summer
to get through the season
is the most cost-effective strategy."
— Dr. Wi Young-jin (Beautystone Clinic, Hapjeong)
You may have heard that hyperhidrosis Botox is expensive, right?
In fact, it is not that it’s expensive;
it is that the amount used is large.
The glabella is finished with 25 units,
but hyperhidrosis uses 100 units,
so the material cost alone is four times higher.
When you add procedure time, the number of spot injections,
and the medical staff’s labor cost,
the price range of "hyperhidrosis Botox = 4~5 times the glabella"
naturally takes shape.
A quote in the 300,000-won range is truly cheap,
and the average is 500,000–700,000 won.
Imported products such as original Botox or Xeomin have a per-unit price
that is 1.5 to 2 times higher than domestic products,
so even with the same 100 units, the product alone can already make
a difference of 200,000–300,000 won.
When a low quote seems suspicious,
be sure to ask two things: "How many units are used? Which product do you use?"
Dr. Wi Young-jin’s key summary
The price of hyperhidrosis Botox is closer to
the material cost than to the procedure fee.
Since the absolute amount is fixed at 100 units,
if it is too cheap, units are being left out; if it is too expensive,
the margin is large.
For both sides, 500,000–700,000 won is the average range.

3 days, 2 weeks, and 3 months,
the flow of hyperhidrosis Botox effects
Hyperhidrosis Botox has a slightly slower onset than glabella Botox,
but it lasts much longer.
3 days after the procedure: Sweating begins to decrease slightly.
2 weeks: The point when sweating is almost completely stopped.
3 months: The peak effect and stable phase.
4~6 months: Sweating gradually starts to return.
Since sweating returns after 4–6 months,
you need treatment twice a year to maintain the effect all year long.
That is why the strategy I usually recommend is
"one treatment just before summer."
If you get it once in late May to early June,
it fully covers the hottest season,
and in winter, even if you sweat, it does not easily show through your clothes,
so one treatment can carry you through the season,
making it the most efficient option.
Recommended strategy based on your situation
Type | Recommended strategy | Estimated annual cost |
Only bothered in summer | One treatment in May–June (100 units) | 500,000–700,000 won |
Heavy sweating all year round | Twice a year in May and November | 1,000,000–1,400,000 won |
Event-based needs such as weddings | One treatment 2–3 weeks before the event | 500,000–700,000 won |
Mild symptoms | One treatment with fewer units (60–80U) | 350,000–500,000 won |
If your symptoms are mild, there is no need to
use the full 100 units.
It is reasonable to adjust the unit count
based on how much you sweat before the procedure.
Three things
our patients ask about most often
Q1. Is a 300,000-won Botox treatment okay?
A. Places that give a full 100 units for 300,000 won are rare.
If the units are reduced to 60–70,
the duration becomes shorter.
In the end, you may need more frequent treatments,
which can make it more expensive than getting one proper 100-unit treatment.
Q2. Exactly how many months does one treatment last?
A. The average is 4–6 months, but the more sweat you normally produce,
the faster it wears off.
Statements like "guaranteed for 6 months" are closer to marketing
that presents the average as if it were the maximum.
Q3. What about compensatory side effects, where
sweating increases in other areas?
A. Unlike surgical excision, with Botox treatment
the incidence is very low.
Also, because Botox eventually wears off over time,
there is no permanent side-effect burden.
If you take away just one thing today —
compare hyperhidrosis Botox quotes by
"unit price," not by the total amount.
In the next article, I’ll explain how the first two weeks
after hyperhidrosis Botox treatment change.
