To jump straight to the conclusion, a light walk is perfectly fine starting the evening of your procedure. However, it's safest to hold off on more intense workouts like gym sessions or running for about 3 to 5 days.
One of the most frequent questions we receive after patients get collagen boosters* like Juvelook, Sculptra, or CelleDerm is, "Doctor, can I go to the gym?" Because the procedure itself is quick and doesn't seem to involve much downtime, it feels as though you could jump right back into your usual fitness routine. However, beneath the surface of the treated area, the signals prompting collagen production are actively at work during this time.
Collagen booster*: A treatment that gradually stimulates collagen production deep within the skin over time. Rather than providing instant volume, the effects appear subtly over several weeks to months.
Why You Should Pause Heavy Workouts
Immediately after a collagen booster treatment, tiny needle marks and minor tissue irritation remain beneath the skin. A sudden rush of blood flow from strenuous exercise during this stage can worsen swelling and bruising. In rare cases, it can even cause the injected material to shift slightly from its intended area.
Another factor to consider is sweat. Because the microscopic needle marks on the treated area are not yet fully closed, external irritants mixed with sweat can easily enter. This is the same reason we advise avoiding saunas, hot bathhouses, and hot showers for the first 24 to 48 hours following your procedure.

A Step-by-Step Guide to Returning to Exercise
The key is not to stop exercising altogether, but rather to gradually build up your intensity. Until the evening of your treatment, stick to light walks. From the following day, you can gently transition into low-impact exercises like stretching or Pilates.
By days 3 to 5, it is generally safe to resume moderate-intensity workouts such as weight training, running, or hiking. However, if the treated area is still swollen or feels tender to the touch, it is best to wait a few more days. For high-intensity cardio or contact sports like boxing and sparring where your face might experience impact, we recommend waiting about a week.

Timing Your Massages and Facial Movements
While some treatments, like Sculptra, include a specific massage protocol as part of the post-care routine, we generally advise against firmly pressing or rubbing the treated area for 48 hours with other collagen boosters. For this reason, it's best to avoid wiping your face forcefully with a towel at the gym or practicing yoga poses where your face presses against the floor for a few days.
We also recommend minimizing dynamic facial expressions for 1 to 2 days after your procedure. If your profession involves singing passionately or using expressive facial animations, scheduling your treatment away from busy workdays can be very helpful.

Listening to Your Body During Exercise
The best way to tell if you returned to training too quickly is by listening to the signals from the treated area itself. If you start exercising and feel a sudden burning, throbbing, or notice bruising becoming darker, please lower your workout intensity immediately.
If these symptoms do not subside within 24 hours or if the pain intensifies, it is safest to consult our clinic. While it is rare to need to stop exercising entirely, your skin will be the first to tell you, "This intensity is a bit too fast for now."
