Potenza Treatment Interval: Why 4 Weeks?

Potenza Treatment Interval: Why 4 Weeks?

Potenza Treatment Interval: Why 4 Weeks?

Potenza is usually spaced 4 weeks apart because heated spots in the dermis are still becoming new collagen. See what 2 vs. 8 weeks means. Here's what to expect.

Potenza sessions are usually spaced about 4 weeks apart. Surface redness tends to settle within a day or so, but the spots in the dermis* that were heated at each needle tip are still turning into new collagen four weeks later. That's why the interval is set by how long the deeper skin takes to rebuild, not by the day your skin looks healed.

*Dermis: the thick layer under the skin's surface that gives skin its firmness and bounce.

In this article, we'll cover what the 4 weeks are for, whether you can shorten or stretch the gap, and how to plan three sessions around travel.

Quick summary

  • The 4-week Potenza interval is time for collagen in the dermis to rebuild.

  • Timing: In one study, heated spots were still visible on day 28 and were replaced by new tissue around week 10.

  • Longer gaps: With three sessions 8 weeks apart, acne scar scores still dropped from 54.73 to 30.53.

  • The evidence starts at 4 weeks, so a 2-week schedule isn't recommended.

What Are You Waiting for During the 4 Weeks Between Potenza Sessions?

Four weeks is roughly when tiny wounds in the skin start turning into new collagen. Potenza places fine needles into the dermis and releases radiofrequency heat from the needle tips, creating a grid of small heated spots. As those spots heal, the skin builds fresh collagen, which helps firm up the skin around pores and the base of acne scars.

A study of human skin using a different microneedle radiofrequency device (not Potenza) found that the heated spots were still clearly visible on day 28. Collagen building blocks increased around day 28, and the heated spots weren't fully replaced by new tissue until after week 10. A session at 4 weeks lands while that process is still underway.

Calendar showing the second and third sessions pushed later instead of earlier

Can You Shorten the Potenza Interval to 2 Weeks for a Work Trip?

Shortening to 2 weeks isn't recommended, because there's no evidence behind it. Studies of acne scars using the same type of device as Potenza spaced three sessions 1 month or 8 weeks apart, and we didn't find results for anything shorter. Even after the surface redness fades, the heated spots underneath are still healing.

If your calendar doesn't line up, it's better to push a session later than to pull it earlier. If a trip or event falls on week 4, moving it to the following week is fine. Looking at the calendar through your third session when you book the first one makes it much less likely you'll need to squeeze the gap.

Does Stretching the Gap to 2 Months Weaken Your Results?

An 8-week gap still showed results. In a split-face study of 30 people, the side treated with microneedle radiofrequency three times, 8 weeks apart, saw its acne scar score drop from 54.73 to 30.53. That was no different from the side treated with a CO2 laser, and redness, swelling, and scab shedding cleared faster on the radiofrequency side.

Keep in mind that this isn't a one-and-done treatment. Among 26 people who had three sessions 1 month apart, the most common answer six months after the last session was a 26% to 50% improvement in scars, reported by 42.3%. In another group of 40 people treated three times a month apart, scars improved more with each session, and pore and texture measurements improved too. Individual results vary, but finishing all three sessions tends to matter more than shifting the interval slightly.

Comparison of normal redness and pus or blisters that need care right away

Potenza Side Effects: What's Normal and When Should You Get Care?

Redness and a stinging feeling are common and usually fade within 24 hours. Among 50 people treated for acne with Potenza, 10% had redness, itching, or stinging that lasted a bit longer, and all of it was mild. Where the needles went deeper, dryness, flaking, and swelling can last a few more days. If they worsen or spread, contact your provider right away.

These signs aren't part of normal healing:

  • Redness that spreads, feels hot, and oozes pus or fluid: seek medical care right away

  • Clusters of small blisters around the lips or on the treated area: seek medical care right away

  • Pain that gets worse day by day: seek medical care right away

  • Brown marks that darken after the redness fades: tell your provider before your next session

Tell your provider before treatment if the area is inflamed, if you get cold sores often, if you're pregnant, or if you take any medication. If you've had any of these reactions, your next session should wait until that area has fully settled. For the first 24 to 48 hours, skip workouts that make you sweat heavily, saunas, and exfoliation.

Calendar with Korea trips spaced at least 4 weeks apart

Planning Potenza Around a Trip to Korea

Unless you had sedation that day, there's no need to postpone your flight home because of Potenza. Since saunas and hard workouts are off the table for the first 24 to 48 hours, plan an easy itinerary for that stretch.

One visit won't transform your skin overnight. With treatments like this, skin tends to move gradually back toward how it used to look as sessions add up, and a single visit doesn't replace a three-session plan. If you can come to Korea more than once, try spacing your trips at least 4 weeks apart when you book the first session.

After you're home, you can send photos to the clinic if the redness or marks worry you. If you see pus, blisters, or pain that keeps building, see a local doctor first.

The Bottom Line: Plan 3 Sessions and Their Spacing Together

To budget for Potenza, multiply the per-session price by the number of sessions in your first plan. Beautystone's promotion page lists these standalone Potenza items:

Promotion item

Price (VAT not included)

Potenza nose-zone pore tip, 1 trial session (soothing care and tip included)

₩230,000

Potenza (pores), full face, 1 session (mask and tip included)

₩350,000

The promotion runs from September 1 to November 30, 2026. This is Seoul clinic pricing and it's subject to change. The trial item applies to a first session only, so for a three-session plan, count the full-face price three times and check how many sessions fit inside the promotion period.

When you get a quote, check that it lists the gap between sessions, how needle depth is split between pores and scars, and whether the tip cost is included. Before you decide, ask which weeks your second and third sessions would fall in, since that one answer lets you compare schedule and cost together. If you're considering Potenza, Beautystone is a clinic in Seoul's Hapjeong area. When you reach out, include any dates you can't move through your third session and any skin treatments you've had in the past month.
