"Shaving is such a hassle, maybe I'll just endure it one more time..."
Has anyone ever had this thought before?
I honestly hear this
so often from my clients! 😅
Shaving, waxing, using hair removal creams over and over...
Repeating these constantly leaves your skin irritated
and wastes your precious time.
That is why so many people these days
are choosing laser hair removal instead.
But when you actually search for it online, there is so much information out there
that many people find themselves overwhelmed and unsure of what to trust.
Today, from the professional perspective of an SNU-trained dermatologist,
I will explain everything to you clearly and honestly.
(And also as someone who has personally experienced it...)

Why we are known as the must-visit hotspot for Hongdae laser hair removal
The real reason why you should start hair removal in the winter
Laser Hair Removal: Targeting the Stem Cells.
Laser hair removal works by concentrating thermal laser energy
directly into the hair roots (hair follicles),
effectively destroying the follicular cells.
In simple terms,
it eliminates the "seed" from which hair grows.
The key is that the laser specifically reacts
to dark pigment (melanin).
Therefore, the darker your hair and the lighter your skin tone,
the more effective and faster the results will show.
This is especially recommended if you:
Have thick, dark hair
Experience severe skin irritation after waxing
Frequently break out with folliculitis (inflamed hair follicles) after shaving
We receive a lot of inquiries particularly from those in their 20s and 30s
around the Hongdae, Hapjeong, and Mapo areas.
The most crucial step is to get a personalized consultation
to select the hair removal device that best suits your specific skin type.
💬 FAQ 1
Q. Is laser hair removal permanent?
A. Complete, 100% permanent hair removal is difficult to achieve.
However, after a certain number of sessions,
the hair will become exceptionally fine or stop growing almost entirely.
"Semi-permanent hair removal" is a much more accurate term.
Q. Can I not get it done if I have a darker skin tone?
A. It depends on the equipment.
There are specialized devices, like the Long-pulsed Nd:YAG laser, which are relatively
safe and effective even on darker skin tones.
Please make sure to mention this during your consultation.
How many sessions do I need to see results?
A Complete Guide to Sessions and Intervals
Sometimes, clients get laser hair removal just once
and feel disappointed, wondering,
"Why hasn't it all gone away?"
To be completely honest with you, there is no laser hair removal
that finishes in just a single session. 😊
Hair goes through three distinct growth phases:
Anagen (growth), Catagen (regression), and Telogen (resting).
Lasers only work on hair that is currently in the active Anagen (growth) phase.
Because of this, you generally need about 6 to 10 sessions
scheduled consistently at 4 to 8-week intervals.
The exact details vary by area:

For male facial hair / beard, a 2-week interval is perfectly fine.
You do not absolutely have to get 10 sessions.
Even with just 5 sessions, the density of the hair is reduced by more than half!
💬 FAQ 2
Q. If I miss a scheduled session,
do I have to start all over again from the beginning?
A. No, there is no need to restart from the beginning.
However, if the gap between sessions becomes too long,
the overall effectiveness might appear slightly reduced.
Q. Is it bad to get laser hair removal during the summer?
A. Older generations of devices carried risks regarding UV exposure
so people recommended avoiding summer, but
modern laser technology has advanced so much that
as long as you apply sunscreen properly,
you can safely get treated in any season.
In fact, starting early before summer is a very smart move!
Before & After Laser Hair Removal:
Please Follow These Essential Steps
While receiving the laser treatment itself is important,
your before and after care determines the final results.
Before Your Treatment
Please shave 1 to 2 days before your appointment.
(Do NOT wax or use hair removal creams.)
Do not apply lotions or perfumes to the treatment area.
Avoid tanning (or heavy UV exposure)
for at least 2 weeks prior to your session.
After Your Treatment
Avoid hot baths, saunas, and intense exercise on the day of treatment.
Meticulously apply sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher).
Do not rub, scratch, or harshly irritate the treated area.
Avoid swimming pools and jimjilbangs (Korean saunas) for one week.
A major downside of not following post-treatment care
is that you may easily develop folliculitis.
Whether you are coming from Hongdae, Seoul, Ilsan, or Gyeonggi,
our clinic is highly accessible and convenient to visit!
💬 FAQ 3
Q. Is redness or swelling normal after the procedure?
A. Yes, mild redness, swelling, or a slight tingling sensation
immediately after the treatment is a completely normal reaction.
It usually subsides within a few hours.
However, if blisters or severe pain develop,
please visit our clinic immediately.
Q. Can I receive treatment while pregnant?
A. Laser hair removal is not recommended during pregnancy.
It is perfectly safe, however, while you are preparing for pregnancy.
Q. I got folliculitis after laser hair removal. Is this okay?
A. Occasionally after treatment, the area around the follicles may turn red
or small breakouts may appear.
While most of these resolve naturally, if they worsen,
it is highly recommended to have them checked at our clinic.
Please do not squeeze, pop, or touch them on your own!
[Conclusion]
When you understand how laser hair removal works,
you can achieve much more satisfying results.
The number of sessions, the intervals, and the pre/post-care—
ultimately, using the right equipment for your skin type and
proper aftercare is the key.
You don't have to worry about it alone.
