Shurink Universe vs. Ulthera: Q&A. Hapjeong Stn.
Hello, Seoul National University Specialist
Dr. Wi Young-jin
Beautystone Clinic – Hapjeong Station

In Shrink consultations, the same questions come up again and again. So I've put together the 10 most common ones. No sales pitch — just the way I'd explain it in the consultation room.
What's the difference between Shrink and Shrink Universe?
Q1. What's the difference between Shrink and Shrink Universe?
Shrink Universe is an upgraded version of the original Shrink. Energy is delivered faster and more evenly.
A LINEAR Tip has been added.
Original Shrink — dot-pattern energy delivery
Shrink Universe — dot + line pattern for more effective energy delivery
New Booster Tip introduced
The original tip was straight, making it difficult to treat curved areas like nasolabial folds
The Booster Tip allows more precise treatment of small, localized areas like nasolabial folds

Don't think of it as the same Shrink. The difference is noticeable.
Q2. Does it matter whether Shrink Design is done sitting up or lying down?
It matters a lot.
Subcutaneous fat shifts position depending on your posture.
Lying down pushes fat to the sides, throwing off the design
Without proper design, cheeks may appear hollow or nasolabial fold lifting may be reduced
This is why we design and perform the treatment with you seated
It allows us to accurately identify sagging areas and target the right points
This isn't a matter of preference — it directly affects your results
Q3. Does it work for a double chin?
A double chin has two main causes.

Weakened collagen → treated with Shrink Universe 3.0 tip
Sagging occurs when collagen between muscle and subcutaneous fat weakens
New collagen is stimulated in that layer — like a fishing line hooking from below and lifting upward
Excess fat → Shrink Universe 4.5 tip + DCA combined
The 4.5 tip targets the fat layer directly to dissolve fat
For significant fat volume, combining with DCA fat-dissolving injections is more effective
Q4. Why is Shrink cheaper than Ulthera? Is there a difference in results?
The price difference comes down to equipment cost and precision — not effectiveness
Ulthera can reach deeper layers with greater precision
The right device depends on your skin condition, so price alone isn't a fair comparison
Those with limited time often choose Ulthera, and satisfaction rates tend to be slightly higher
Q5. What if sagging is severe, like in your 50s or 60s — does it still work?
It still works — the approach just changes.
More shots and higher energy to maximize the lifting effect.
At this age, lifting and tightening are often done together.
Around the eyes → Eye Shrink
Fine wrinkle areas → Derma Shrink
For more noticeable results, Ulthera may be recommended.
Just like cutting off damaged hair before it can recover, the more advanced the sagging, the more combined treatments are needed.

Q6. Are there any treatments that pair well with Shrink?
Shrink lifts — but lifting can reveal areas that have lost volume. We recommend combining treatments by area.
Volume restoration → Collagen makers (Sculptra, Radiesse, etc.) / Fillers
Direct anchoring → Thread lift
Excess fat → Double Slim / Pencaira (DCA fat-dissolving injection)
Q7. Which hurts more — Ulthera or Shrink?
Honestly, both hurt.
Most say Ulthera is slightly more painful, but it varies by individual.
Still, it's very manageable — not as bad as you'd expect. 😊

Q8. Does it work for early-stage nasolabial folds?
If it's mild → Focused lifting on the cheek and fold area can make a noticeable difference.
If it's deeply creased → Combining with filler is more effective.
In the early stages, Shrink alone can bring meaningful improvement.

Q9. Does Shrink also stimulate collagen? Is it similar to Juvelook?
They work in completely different ways.
Juvelook → Stimulates collagen evenly across the entire skin
Shrink → Collagen is generated only at the specific points targeted by HIFU energy
Since they serve different purposes, using them together creates a complementary effect.
⚠️ Approaching Shrink with the goal of mass collagen production isn't the right fit. Shrink's primary purpose is lifting.
Q10. Can Shrink also create a V-line jawline effect?
Yes, it can.
As the tissue around the jawbone contracts, the bone line becomes more defined.
It's not about losing fat — it's about the tissue becoming more organized, bringing out the natural contour.
It's less of a dramatic change and more of a "your natural line coming back to life" feeling.
