Brazilian waxing feels clean & easy—but coarse follicles mean 5–10+ sessions for lasting results.

Q. Brazilian hair removal,
Is it true that it disappears permanently after 3~5 sessions?
A. No. In the Brazilian area, hair follicles are thick and deep,
so you need at least 5~10 sessions or more
to see an effect close to permanent hair reduction.
Reducing the number of sessions makes regrowth rates higher than expected.
Q. Then why does the number of sessions needed differ by area?
A. Because the depth, thickness, and growth cycle of hair follicles
differ by area.
The Brazilian area is among the body areas with the deepest follicles.
"Satisfaction is very high because of hygiene and convenience, but
the follicles are thick and deep, so you need at least 5~10 sessions or more
to see a lasting hair-removal effect."

Why does Brazilian hair removal take so much longer?
— It's a matter of follicle depth
The principle of laser hair removal is simpler than you might think.
If light of a specific wavelength is directed at an area with melanin pigment,
the energy turns into heat
and damages the follicle itself.
Then the hair can no longer grow back.
But here's one important thing.
For the laser to work,
the light has to 'reach' the follicle.
If the follicle is shallow below the skin surface, the energy is easily delivered.
On the other hand, the deeper and thicker the follicle,
the more the laser energy can disperse and heat transfer can become incomplete.
Compared with areas like the face or arms,
the Brazilian area has much thicker follicles, and they sit deep within the skin.
Simply put, the roots are much deeper.
So it's hard to damage the roots completely in just one or two sessions.
Moreover, hair has a growth cycle.
Anagen → catagen → telogen,
repeating these three stages,
and the laser is effective only on hairs in the growth phase.
In one treatment, the proportion of all hairs that are in the growth phase is
at most 20~30%.
The rest simply pass through.
These two reasons,
namely the structural feature that follicles are deep and thick and
the biological limitation that only growth-phase hairs respond,
when combined naturally
the number becomes more than 10 sessions.
Honestly, saying it is over in 3 sessions
means either not knowing this principle, or knowing it and glossing over it.
👨⚕️ Director Wi Youngjin's key summary
Brazilian hair removal is a highly satisfying procedure
in terms of hygiene and convenience.
However, because the follicles in this area are among the thickest
and deepest in the body,
if you want a lasting hair-reduction effect,
you should plan for at least 5~10 sessions or more.
People who know this from the start
don't give up midway and end up with good results.

Then how many sessions should I start with?
— Approach by skin type
This is a bit tricky,
because follicle thickness, skin color, and hormonal influences vary from person to person,
so even with the same 10 sessions the results can differ.
It varies by case, but
this is how I usually break it down when I explain it.
① For those with thick, dark hair and relatively fair skin
Honestly, this type responds the best.
Because the melanin contrast is clear, the laser energy
concentrates on the follicle.
Many people see noticeable reduction starting around 5~7 sessions.
However, if your goal is complete hair removal,
I recommend completing 10 sessions.
② For those with fine hair or darker skin tone
This is a common misconception,
but in this case choosing the laser wavelength becomes much more important.
The darker the skin color, the more the skin itself absorbs the laser,
which raises the risk of burns or hyperpigmentation.
For these people, a longer wavelength (e.g., Nd:YAG 1064nm)
is often needed,
and naturally the energy settings per session also differ.
So the number of sessions can increase further.
It is realistic to start with about 8~12 sessions.
③ For those who have long used shaving, waxing, or depilatory cream
But that's not always a good thing.
People who have waxed for a long time sometimes have
altered tissue around the follicles,
so laser response can appear differently from the usual pattern.
Conversely, people who have only shaved
generally maintain relatively normal follicles,
so prediction is easier.
In any case,
you should stop waxing and depilatory creams 4 weeks before the procedure.
Because the laser needs the follicle to work.
One thing I must mention is that
the Brazilian area tends to be more sensitive to pain during the procedure
than other areas.
Since discomfort varies quite a bit depending on machine performance, cooling method, and how the medical staff adjusts parameters,
it's a good idea to get a thorough consultation before your first treatment.
That said, cooling technology has improved a lot these days,
so most people say it is much better than waxing in the past.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q1. Can I get Brazilian hair removal during my period?
A. Medically, it's not absolutely forbidden,
but during menstruation the skin sensitivity in that area
often becomes higher than usual.
You may feel pain or irritation more strongly.
If possible, I recommend booking it
3~5 days before or after your period.
That timing reduces pain,
and the procedure environment is much more comfortable.
Q2. Can hyperpigmentation occur after Brazilian hair removal?
A. Yes, it can.
It sometimes occurs especially in people with darker skin tones
or those who have been excessively exposed to UV right after treatment (such as tanning).
For 2~4 weeks after treatment, pay attention to sun protection on the area,
and it is better to avoid hot baths or saunas for 2~3 days.
Even if hyperpigmentation occurs,
most cases recover naturally within a few months.
Q3. How long should the interval be between Brazilian hair removal sessions?
A. Usually, I recommend a 4~6 week interval.
This is because it needs to match the hair growth cycle in this area
so that as many follicles in the growth phase as possible can be targeted.
If you come too soon, efficiency drops,
and if you come too late, it may already have moved to the next cycle,
reducing the effect per session.
