Square Jaw Botox
Are You Only Looking for the Lowest Price?
Why That Number Can Be a Trap
Looking at patients who come into the clinic these days,
they really do their research before arriving.
"Doctor, I compared three places before coming here."
But when we actually talk,
there's only one thing they compared.
'Price'
The cost of square jaw Botox—
is there really a proper standard for it?
Today, I'd like to share
the story behind that.
💡 Key Summary of Today's Post
Q. Why is there such a big price difference between clinics?
A. Because the injected amount (number of units)
differs.
Even for the same single session,
50U and 100U produce completely different results.
Q. Then what's an appropriate amount?
A. Look at the unit price and total volume together.
Converting it to a 'price per 1U'
is the most accurate way to compare.
Q. Should I always avoid cheaper places?
A. Not necessarily, but if the dose is too low or
the dilution ratio is unclear,
the results are bound to be weaker.
The Number to Check Before Price
— Units (U)

Square jaw Botox is a procedure that injects toxin into the masseter muscle
to reduce muscle volume.
The trap lies in the phrase "one session,"
which hides the actual number of units (U) being used.
Some clinics use a total of 50U for both sides,
while others use 100U or more.
The required amount varies depending on muscle thickness,
and for those with well-developed jaw muscles,
just 50U will have little to no effect.
In other words, don't compare by 'price × 1 session'—
compare by 'price per 1U × total units needed.'
So How Much Does It Actually Cost?

Based on Seoul,
here's a rough overview of the market range.
(Varies by product and dosage)
Category | Lower Range | Higher Range |
Price per 1U | Approx. KRW 600–800 | Approx. KRW 1,500–2,500 |
Average dose per session | 50U (both sides combined) | 100U or more |
Retreatment interval | 3–4 months | 4–6 months |
If an ad says "from 30,000 won,"
in most cases the dose is very small.
A lower dose means a shorter duration,
which means you'll end up needing injections more frequently.
👨⚕️ Dr. Wi Young-jin's Practical Notes:
In my experience, patients with well-developed masseters
need 80–100U or more
to see noticeable results.
Among patients who come in saying
they saw no effect elsewhere,
a significant number actually had a dosage problem.
To be honest,
when done properly, the cost does go up.
But maintaining results for 6 months with the right dose
is far more cost-effective in the long run
than getting low-dose injections every 3 months.
Dilution Ratio
— A Variable Many Patients Don't Know About

Botox comes in powder form,
so it's dissolved in saline before use.
The dilution concentration at this stage
affects how the toxin spreads through the muscle.
Even with the same 100U, over-dilution
can make precise treatment more difficult.
This is exactly why, during consultations,
I'm transparent with patients about
which product is being used and how many units.
Key Summary
Cost shouldn't be judged by 'price per session' alone—
you need to evaluate total units (U), unit price, and dilution concentration
together.
Why You Need to Calculate
the Total Annual Cost
Square jaw Botox is typically done
every 4–6 months.
If you start with a proper dose,
the muscle gradually shrinks, and
over time, maintenance becomes possible
with a smaller amount.
On the other hand, repeatedly getting too small a dose
may mean spending money continuously
with little to no change in muscle size.
3 Smart Comparison Criteria:
For the first 1–2 sessions, confirm response with a sufficient dose
Then adjust the maintenance dose based on individual response
Compare based on 'total annual cost,' not single-session price
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q1. Why is there a price difference between Botox brands?
A. It comes down to differences in product cost and distribution.
Domestic brands are often cheaper than imported ones,
so be sure to ask which brand is being used
during your consultation.
Q2. How long does one treatment last?
A. On average, 4–6 months.
With an appropriate dose,
the duration may gradually increase over time,
but an insufficient dose may not even last 3 months.
