We explain in simple terms why facial thread lifting is effective for correcting sagging cheeks and the jawline, using physical principles and the direction of the scalp as a reference.

Thread lifting,
how can you tell
whether it really works?
Hello,

Q. They say putting in threads lifts the face,
but does it really pull things physically?
A. Yes, that’s right. In thread lifting,
the key is not collagen stimulation but 'physical lifting force.'
The direction of the threads and the fixation points
determine the overall outcome.
Q. Why is the pulling direction important?
A. Not toward the front or behind the ears,
but toward the scalp, so the result looks natural and lasts longer.
"For instantly lifting sagging cheeks or a collapsed jawline,
applying physical force
through thread lifting is the most effective.
Pulling toward the back of the scalp is the most natural and best approach."
— Director Wi Youngjin (BeautyStone Clinic, Hongdae)

Thread lifting,
is not about 'collagen stimulation'
but about 'direction'
This is a point many people misunderstand,
but when explaining the effects of thread lifting,
you often hear that "the skin becomes firmer as collagen is produced."
That’s not wrong, but to be honest,
when you look only at the collagen-stimulating effect,
the results are not very different from
radiofrequency or ultrasound devices.
The real strength of thread lifting is something else.
It is that it 'directly pulls with physical force.'
Tissues that have already sagged downward due to gravity
do not immediately return to their original position
just because an energy device applies heat.
That is because the position of the tissue itself has already changed.
To return it to its original place,
you need actual physical pulling force.
The pulling vector (direction),
why the scalp?
Many people think, "Isn't pulling toward the ears enough?"
and wonder about that.
But if you pull toward behind the ears or straight forward,
it may look lifted at first,
but it can loosen quickly against the tissue’s resistance
or leave an unnatural pulling sensation.
What I find most effective clinically is
to anchor the thread deeply toward the scalp and pull.
Because the scalp has many firmly fixed tissues,
the support point is much stronger when the thread is anchored there,
and the pulling vector matches a natural
anatomical direction,
so the result lasts longer.
Even with the same thread, if this direction is wrong,
the effect can easily drop to less than half.
👨⚕️ Director Wi Youngjin’s key summary
Sagging cheeks and a weakened jawline
need physical lifting force more than thermal stimulation.
When thread lifting performs that role,
the most important thing is which direction you pull.
If you set the vector toward the scalp, fixation becomes stronger,
and the results also look much more natural.

Who needs thread lifting?
It varies by case,
but I usually recommend thread lifting to people like these.
People whose cheeks have sagged and nasolabial folds have deepened
People whose jawline has become blurry and the double-chin boundary has collapsed
People who are slim but still look heavy in the lower face
In these cases, the bigger issue is not volume
but 'position,'
so lifting with threads is a much faster and more direct solution
than fillers or energy devices.
On the other hand, many people who already have significant sagging
and have been getting only laser treatments
finally become satisfied through
thread lifting.
Finding the right timing for treatment
is more important than anything else.
❓ Frequently asked questions
Q1. How long does thread lifting last after one treatment?
Generally, you can think of it as about 1 to 2 years.
The important thing is that even after the thread is absorbed,
if it has been properly fixed toward the scalp,
the tissue remembers the lifted position,
so the lifting effect lasts longer.
Q2. Can I go back to daily life right after the procedure?
Yes, but for a few days,
you may feel pulling when laughing a lot or
opening your mouth wide.
Swelling usually goes down within 3 to 5 days,
and washing your face is possible starting the next day.
That’s all from me, Wi Youngjin.
